Afix is an antibiotic from the cephalosporin class, containing Cefixime, and is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for infections affecting the respiratory tract, such as Pneumonia, as well as urinary tract infections, ear infections, sinusitis, throat infections, and certain Sexually transmitted infections. Cefixime works by interfering with the formation of bacterial cell walls, leading to the destruction of the bacteria.
