Product Description

Thyrox mainly contains levothyroxine sodium, which is a synthetic levorotatory isomer of thyroxine (T4), the primary hormone secreted by the thyroid gland, and is the standard of care for treating hypothyroidism. It functions as a replacement therapy, mimicking the endogenous hormone to regulate the body's metabolic rate, heart and digestive functions, muscle control, and brain development. Once administered, levothyroxine is peripherally deiodinated into triiodothyronine (T3), the more biologically active form of the hormone. Due to its narrow therapeutic index and the impact of gastric pH and dietary fiber on its absorption, it is typically administered on an empty stomach, consistently at the same time each day, to maintain stable serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels.
