Phylopen, which contains flucloxacillin sodium, is a narrow-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic within the penicillin class, specifically engineered to combat infections caused by penicillinase-producing bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus. It functions by binding to penicillin-binding proteins to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of the pathogen.
