Product Description

Indications: Seroxyn is indicated for the regular treatment of asthma in patients requiring combination therapy with a long-acting β2-agonist and inhaled corticosteroid. It is used in patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting β2-agonists, or in patients already controlled with both inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting β2-agonists. It is also used in COPD management in selected patients.Pharmacology: Seroxyn combines Salmeterol and Fluticasone Propionate. Salmeterol is a long-acting selective β2-adrenergic agonist that provides bronchodilation for up to 12 hours by relaxing airway smooth muscle. Fluticasone Propionate is an inhaled corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory action in the lungs, reducing airway inflammation, asthma symptoms, and exacerbations. Together, they improve lung function and provide better asthma control.Dosage & Administration:Inhaler:Adults and adolescents ≥12 years:2 puffs twice daily of either:25 mcg Salmeterol + 50 mcg Fluticasone25 mcg Salmeterol + 125 mcg Fluticasone25 mcg Salmeterol + 250 mcg FluticasoneChildren 4-12 years:2 puffs of 25 mcg Salmeterol + 50 mcg Fluticasone twice daily.Inhalation Capsule (Asthma):Adults and adolescents ≥12 years:50 mcg Salmeterol with 100 mcg or 250 mcg Fluticasone twice daily.Maximum dose: 50 mcg Salmeterol + 500 mcg Fluticasone twice daily.Children 4-11 years:50 mcg Salmeterol + 100 mcg Fluticasone twice daily.COPD:50 mcg Salmeterol + 250 mcg Fluticasone twice daily.Rinse mouth after each inhalation to reduce risk of oral candidiasis.Administration: Shake inhaler well before use. Inhale slowly and deeply while pressing the canister, then hold breath for about 10 seconds. Rinse mouth after use. Clean inhaler regularly according to instructions.Interaction: Beta-blockers should generally be avoided in asthma patients. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole and ritonavir may increase systemic exposure to Fluticasone Propionate and should be used cautiously.Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Salmeterol, Fluticasone Propionate, or any excipients. Not indicated for acute severe asthma attacks or status asthmaticus requiring intensive therapy.Side Effects: Common side effects include tremor, headache, palpitations, throat irritation, hoarseness, oral candidiasis, muscle cramps, cough, rash, edema, and hypersensitivity reactions. Rarely, arrhythmias and angioedema may occur.Pregnancy & Lactation: Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if the expected benefit outweighs potential risk. Limited human data are available regarding safety during pregnancy and lactation.Precautions & Warnings: Seroxyn should not be used for relief of acute bronchospasm. Patients should always keep a rescue inhaler available. Sudden worsening of asthma may occur and requires medical attention. Long-term use of high-dose inhaled corticosteroids may cause systemic effects such as adrenal suppression, growth retardation in children, osteoporosis, cataract, and glaucoma. COPD patients should be monitored for possible pneumonia.Use in Special Populations: Inhaled corticosteroids may reduce growth velocity in pediatric patients. No dose adjustment is generally needed in elderly or renal impairment patients.Overdose Effects: Salmeterol overdose may cause tremor, tachycardia, arrhythmia, hypokalemia, headache, and hypertension. Excessive Fluticasone exposure may temporarily suppress adrenal function. Management is mainly supportive and symptomatic.Therapeutic Class: Long-acting selective β2-adrenoceptor stimulants and respiratory corticosteroidsStorage Conditions: Store below 30°C away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not puncture or burn the pressurized canister. Keep away from eyes and out of reach of children.
