Product Description

Indications: Saltica is indicated for the regular treatment of asthma in patients who require combination therapy with a long-acting β2-agonist and inhaled corticosteroid. It is used in patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting bronchodilators, or those already controlled on both therapies. Pharmacology: Saltica contains Salmeterol and Fluticasone Propionate. Salmeterol is a long-acting selective β2-agonist that provides bronchodilation for up to 12 hours. Fluticasone Propionate is an inhaled corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory action in the lungs. Together, they improve lung function, control asthma symptoms, and reduce exacerbations. Dosage: Inhaler: Adults and adolescents (12 years and older): 2 puffs twice daily of suitable strength (25/50 mcg, 25/125 mcg, or 25/250 mcg). Children (4-12 years): 2 puffs of 25/50 mcg twice daily. Inhalation Capsule: Adults and adolescents: Salmeterol 50 mcg with Fluticasone 100 mcg, 250 mcg, or 500 mcg twice daily. Children (4-11 years): 50/100 mcg twice daily. For COPD: 50/250 mcg twice daily. Mouth rinsing after inhalation is recommended. Administration: The inhaler should be used regularly for maximum benefit. Shake well before use, inhale deeply while pressing the canister, and hold breath for several seconds after inhalation. Rinse the mouth with water after each use to reduce the risk of oral candidiasis. Interaction: β-blockers should generally be avoided in asthma patients. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole or ritonavir may increase systemic exposure to Fluticasone Propionate. Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Salmeterol, Fluticasone Propionate, or any excipients. It should not be used for acute asthma attacks or status asthmaticus. Side Effects: Common side effects include tremor, headache, palpitations, throat irritation, hoarseness, oral candidiasis, muscle cramps, and cough. Rarely, arrhythmias, hypersensitivity reactions, or angioedema may occur. Pregnancy & Lactation: Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk. Limited human data are available. Precautions & Warnings: Saltica should not be used for rapid relief of acute asthma symptoms. Patients should always keep a rescue inhaler available. Monitor for worsening asthma, paradoxical bronchospasm, pneumonia in COPD patients, and systemic corticosteroid effects such as adrenal suppression or reduced bone density with prolonged high-dose use. Use in Special Populations: Long-term use of inhaled corticosteroids in children may reduce growth velocity. Regular monitoring is recommended. Overdose Effects: Salmeterol overdose may cause tachycardia, tremor, headache, hypokalemia, or palpitations. Excess Fluticasone may cause temporary adrenal suppression. Treatment is supportive and symptom-based. Therapeutic Class: Long-acting selective β-adrenoceptor stimulants, Respiratory corticosteroids Storage Conditions: Store below 30°C away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not puncture or burn the canister. Keep out of reach of children.
