Jardimet 500 is a combination medicine that contains empagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, and metformin hydrochloride, a biguanide. It is used alongside diet and exercise to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly when treatment with both of these medicines is suitable. It is also prescribed to lower the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes who have existing heart disease. However, its effectiveness in reducing cardiovascular death in such patients has not been fully established.
