IntroductionEmep is a medication that reduces the production of stomach acid. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as heartburn, acid reflux, and disorders affecting the food pipe, as well as to prevent and heal stomach ulcers. It should be taken as prescribed by your doctor, using the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary duration. Typically, it is taken whole about one hour before a meal, at the same time each day.The medicine may take a few weeks to show full effect, so continue taking it even if your symptoms improve early. For long-term use, your doctor may monitor magnesium levels, as they can decrease over time. Common side effects include headache, constipation or diarrhea, stomach pain, and nausea, which are usually mild. However, consult your doctor if they persist. Long-term use may increase the risk of certain side effects, including bone fractures.Avoid foods that trigger symptoms, such as spicy, fatty, or rich foods, and limit caffeine and alcohol intake.
