Disopan, which contains Clonazepam, is a long-acting benzodiazepine primarily utilized for its potent anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, and muscle-relaxant properties. This action increases chloride ion influx, leading to hyperpolarization and reduced neuronal excitability, thereby calming the brain and nervous system. Clinically, it is a first-line treatment for various seizure disorders—including absence seizures and myoclonic epilepsy—and is widely prescribed for the management of panic disorder and certain movement disorders like akathisia.
