Indications:Flamex is used for relief of pain, inflammation and fever. It is indicated in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, dysmenorrhea, dental pain, back pain, muscular pain and other mild to moderate inflammatory conditions.Pharmacology:Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects. It works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis, thereby relieving pain, swelling and fever.Dosage and Administration:Adults and adolescents (≥12 years): 200–400 mg every 6 hours as needed (max 1200 mg/day for mild pain).Rheumatic conditions: 1200–1800 mg/day in divided doses (max 2400 mg/day).Children (≥6 years): Dose based on body weight (typically 20–40 mg/kg/day in divided doses).Take with food to reduce stomach irritation.Drug Interactions:Avoid with other NSAIDs, aspirin and high-dose methotrexate. Use caution with ACE inhibitors, diuretics, warfarin, corticosteroids, lithium and certain antifungals.Contraindications:Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to ibuprofen, history of GI bleeding or ulcers, severe renal or hepatic failure, severe heart failure, active bleeding and last trimester of pregnancy.Side Effects:Common side effects include headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain and gastrointestinal irritation. Long-term use may increase risk of ulcers and cardiovascular events.Pregnancy and Lactation:Avoid in third trimester. Use in early pregnancy only if necessary. Small amounts pass into breast milk but are generally considered safe.Precautions and Warnings:Use cautiously in asthma, SLE, elderly patients and those with kidney or heart disease. Long-term use requires monitoring for GI and cardiovascular risks.Overdose Effects:Symptoms may include nausea, dizziness and stomach pain.
