Indications:Momelo nasal spray is used for the treatment of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children aged 6 years and above.Pharmacology:Momelo is a combination of olopatadine (an H1 antihistamine) and mometasone furoate (a corticosteroid). Olopatadine blocks histamine effects, while mometasone reduces inflammation by inhibiting multiple inflammatory cells and mediators, providing relief from allergy symptoms.Dosage and Administration:Adults and adolescents (≥12 years): 2 sprays in each nostril twice daily.Children (6–11 years): 1 spray in each nostril twice daily.For nasal use only. Shake well before use and avoid spraying into eyes or mouth.Drug Interactions:Avoid use with alcohol or CNS depressants due to increased drowsiness. CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase mometasone levels and risk of side effects.Contraindications:Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to olopatadine, mometasone or any component of the spray.Side Effects:Common effects include altered taste (dysgeusia), nosebleeds and nasal discomfort. Other possible effects include drowsiness, nasal irritation, glaucoma, cataracts and hypersensitivity reactions.Pregnancy and Lactation:Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Small amounts may pass into breast milk; use cautiously during breastfeeding.Precautions and Warnings:Monitor for nasal irritation, infection or bleeding. Avoid activities requiring alertness if drowsiness occurs. Use cautiously in patients with infections, glaucoma or long-term steroid use. Monitor growth in children.Overdose Effects:Overdose may cause drowsiness (from olopatadine) or steroid-related effects such as hypercorticism (from mometasone).
